Womxn's March in Seattle

FIRST THIS...

Hello Fellow Womxn's Marchers:

I found some important information about the march, so thought I'd share with you all. As I am generally LOATHE to Reply All, please know that this will be the only email I will send.

The Seattle march, Sat. Jan. 21 at 10:00a.m.:
It's a silent march. One of many things I didn't know. I found that, and much more info here, on the Seattle Womxn's March FB page : https://www.facebook.com/events/905054526294975/permalink/938555546278206/

Some other things to especially note on that page:
--you need to register either on that FB page (as simple as clicking "Going" at top right of page), or at the Eventbrite page BUT NOT BOTH as that will double count you. They need a head count for things like security, porta potties, etc. Here's the Eventbrite page:
--online donations are requested, if you can, for things like city permits, porta potties, etc
--why it's spelled Womxn's
and much, much more.

I also came across a sort of generic "what to wear / do / carry / expect at a protest march" article, and found it useful.

See you on the 21st walking on to the 8:45a.m. ferry!

Thank you again to everyone who came out to sew flags on Friday! I had a great time, and I'm so excited about all the flags we made.

To confirm: a group of us is planning on meeting at or on the 8:45 ferry from Bremerton on the day of the march (Jan. 21). We'll locate one another by the flags. Feel free to spread the word and invite others!

I normally blind copy attendees on emails but I've included you all in cc here in case you want to get in touch with any new friends made. It's probably my favorite part of hosting events like this, the friendships made.

Thanks again, and I hope to see you on the 21st!

All Best,

Hi Everyone,

I want to encourage anyone wanting to add their presence to the statement of solidarity that thousands will be expressing on Saturday, Jan. 21.  The Women's March is not just in D.C. and it's not just for women. It is all across the nation and it's for everyone.

Below is a call to League members in Kitsap county of Washington.  I'm forwarding this to make the call to all to participate in the march nearest you.

Thanks

Maurie Louis

Hi Kitsap League Members,

Join the numbers participating in the
Women's March on Seattle
Saturday, Jan. 21

I am fortunate to be able to participate in the Women's March on Washington in D.C. I think it will be quite an event. Although there will be thousands of people at the U.S. capitol, there are also going to be thousands and thousands participating in sister marches all across our country (and across the waters of the Atlantic.)

One of those sister marches is taking place in Seattle!!

The national LWVUS is supporting the march in D.C. and we are all encouraged to participate at the march nearest to us to show solidarity.

This is an opportunity for the League to make our voice heard on our priorities. We march for voting rights. We march to reform money in politics. We march for health care. We march for the environment.  These are our core issues and we want to ensure they are front and center."
                                  Chris Carson, LWVUS President

Kitsap League members Kimi Kinoshita and Pam Hamon and others are joining the women’s march in Seattle. You can meet up with the group at the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, on the corner of Madison and Winslow on Bainbridge, at 8 am, go for coffee, and get on the 10:25 ferry. If you are interested in joining the group let Pam or Kimiknow. If you just want to join them on the 10:25 ferry - let one of them know that too so they can connect with you.

Dear Jacquelyn:

WSARA-EF is a coalition that unites our affiliate organizations, retired workers and community groups to win social and economic justice and a better, more secure future for ourselves, our families and future generations.

That is why we are calling on our members to join us at the Womxn’s March on Seattle on January 21st in solidarity with the national Women’s March on Washington D.C.

Find our WA State Alliance for Retired Americans banner at Judkins Park and march with us to send a message to the nation. Just as we support health care and a secure retirement for all, we fight for equity and social justice for everyone in this country!

The route is approximately 3.6 miles long but will not be announced until closer to Saturday. The rally will begin at 10:30 am and then we will march silently at 11:00 am to the Seattle Center.

Date: January 21
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Start: Judkins Park (2150 S Norman St, Seattle, WA 98144)
End: Seattle Center (400 Broad St, Seattle, WA 98109)
